7 September 2010, Singapore - Aggreko, the global leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control, has provided a temporary power supply to the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), which were held from 14th - 26th August. Singapore 2010, the inaugural YOG, saw 3,600 athletes aged 14 -18 from 205 National Olympic Committees (NOC) competing in 26 Olympic sports.
As Official Supporter for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Aggreko provided a combination of prime and back-up power at 16 competition venues, two training venues and the Main Media Centre. 47 Aggreko employees were involved in the commissioning and operation of the power packages, 34 of whom were locally employed engineers and technicians. In order to ensure reliable power for the venues, Aggreko worked closely with the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) to design power and distribution systems which were integrated into the venues.
