Temporary Power for Persian Gulf Platform Offshore Qatar

Maersk, the operators of the Al Shaheen oil field, off the shore of Qatar, required power for two satellite platforms while the main process and utility platform was being commissioned.

Based on Aggreko's previous relationship with Maersk in Europe, the platform operators contacted Aggreko to provide them with the power they needed.

Aggreko's Solution

The total power installed was 5.4 MW at 6.6kV. The generators were all equipped with fire and gas panels, CO2 systems and neutral earthing resistors. And, to ensure the smooth operation and/or maintenance of the equipment, Aggreko engineers were based permanently on the platform for the duration of the project.
